Outdoor Adventures

Outdoor Adventures is funded by the Outdoor Equity Grants Program, created through AB 209 and administered by California State Parks, Office of Grants and Local Services. CRPD was awarded $347,550 to go towards establishing a program for local activities and trips to natural areas for underserved communities.

Outdoor Adventures has two elements with one being activities in the community and the other being nature area trips outside of the community. Activities in the community may include a community tree planting, creek clean up and bike maintenance workshops. Nature area trips may include camping trips, hiking outings, bike rides, cooking demonstrations and more!

This program is led by the CRPD Teen Adventure Group (TAG) and includes activities specifically for teens as well as activities for all ages. Teens interested in joining TAG are encouraged to the monthly meetings to see what the program is all about. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Neil Orchard Senior Activities Center located at 3480 Routier Road, Sacramento, CA 95827. TAG members will learn how to plan and execute events, participate in mentoring and career workshops, address youth and teen related issues pertaining to services and safe spaces, develop positive life and decision-making skills and learn to effect change through cultivation of leadership qualities by connecting with the community.

Who Can Apply for TAG?

Middle or high school students ages 11 through 17 who go to school or reside within
CRPD boundaries. Click here to check the District Map to see if you qualify.

Applications will be accepted throughout the year. Teens interested in attending the end of summer camping trip must meet attendance requirements; TAG members must attend at least three (3) meetings and two (2) special events.

Teen Outdoor Adventures

With CRPD Staff
Ages: 11 – 17
Fee: $10 non-TAG Members | Free for TAG members

Teens will have a blast visiting new places and experiencing exciting adventures. Join us and explore nature, learn new skills and become a steward of the local environment. All equipment is provided.

Multi-Generational Adventures

Ages: Open to everyone 5+
TAG members will lead hikers on basic hikes in an outdoor nature setting. Meet at the Neil Orchard Senior Activities Center, transportation will be provided by motorcoach. Lunch and a snack are included.
Fee: $20 | Free for TAG Members

Summer Kick Off Camping Trip

Join the TAG program for a 3-day camping trip to Tahoe. Enjoy swimming in the lake, s’mores around the campfire and some exciting outings and experiences. All equipment and meals are provided.
Fee: $30 | Free for TAG Members

Teen Outdoor Adventure Summer Camp

Come join our summer camp where we partner with the Bike Lab of Sacramento to create a fun and educational outdoor experience. Learn about bike maintenance, go on rides, participate in crafts, games, waterplay and more! Sign up for individual days or the whole week.
Fee: $10 | Free for TAG Members
